Sometimes, life quietly changes direction.
In 2020, as the world slowed down, so did ours.
One of us stepped away from a fourteen-year career as a commercial pilot to spend more time raising our young son. The other continued doing what generations before him had done—working the land, season after season.
Neither of us knew exactly what the future would look like.
But we knew we wanted to build something of our own.
Building something
worth believing in.
What began as a new chapter slowly became a shared pursuit.
Not simply of building a business, but of building one we could genuinely stand behind.
Living in Kerala, we found ourselves surrounded by foods that had quietly been part of everyday life for generations.
They weren’t fashionable or complicated. They were simply made well.
That simplicity stayed with us.
We realised that good food doesn’t need reinvention. It needs respect.
Why Malabar Se?
Kerala’s food carries the character of the place it comes from.
Its recipes have been shaped by monsoons, harvests, family kitchens and generations of careful hands.
We didn’t create those traditions. We simply wanted to honour them.
From the ingredients we choose to the way each recipe is prepared, every decision begins with a simple question:
Would we be proud to serve this
at our own table?
If the answer isn’t yes, we keep working.
What We Believe
We don’t begin with what’s popular.
We begin with what we believe is worth making.
That means choosing ingredients thoughtfully, taking the time a recipe deserves, and resisting the temptation to add claims or shortcuts that don’t belong.
We’re not interested in making the loudest products on the shelf.
We’re interested in making the ones we’re proud to put our name on.

Kerala isn’t just where Malabar Se is made. It’s where its stories begin.
Every ingredient, every recipe and every product is shaped by the place we call home.
Through Stories from Kerala, we hope to share a little more than food. We hope to share the culture, history and landscapes that continue to inspire everything we do.
Malabar Se is still young.
