Roasted Jackfruit Seed Coffee- coffee without Caffeine

Jackfruit, the sweet-smelling, succulent summer fruit with yellow lobes is a favourite for many of us and it is now widely available in the market. While the juicy flesh of the fruit is relished, the hard nut-like seeds are discarded immediately.

Jaffee is an alternative of coffee without any caffeine. Discarded jackfruit seeds are roasted and ground to a fine powder with a little bit of cumin, black pepper, dried ginger, fenugreek and cardamom. The product doesn’t contain caffeine. You can use it the way you use like regular coffee powder and have black coffee or with milk, hot or cold.
Another innovative way to use it is to add a teaspoon of the powder with tulsi and honey to a cup of boiling water and you have a great kashayam or kaadha for a cold and sore throat.
